Job Description

Vaco is working with an industry leading Denver based public company who is looking to hire an SEC Financial Reporting Senior. This position reports directly to the External Financial Reporting Manager, will be supporting the Finance department in assisting with the Company's technical accounting research and external reporting to the SEC. The ideal candidate will have exceptional financial and analytical skills, an aptitude for research and analysis, and strong written and verbal communication ability. Additional responsiblities and qualifications include:

Responsibilities:

  • Play a significant role in the preparation of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC and annual retirement plan filings including the review of all disclosure schedules and reports while ensuring compliance with SEC and FASB rules and regulations
  • Perform research on technical accounting issues, analyze complex balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Design and develop ad hoc reporting
  • Participate in complex accounting, regulatory reporting, and other special projects as needed
  • Assist in initiating, implementing and executing process improvements and controls
  • Communicate and interact with employees including accounting and finance group, and managers from various departments.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of public accounting experience or combination public accounting and industry experience with SEC reporting experience;
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting; CPA and Oil & Gas industry experience highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Technical accounting skills and ability to research various accounting issues;
  • Understanding of XBRL preferred;
  • Attention to detail and highly effective planning, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills;
  • Team player, willingness to do what it takes to support business and finance organization goals;
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and able to work overtime as needed
