Job Description

This person will be responsible for the following:
Lead the coordination of activities with independent audit firm and internal audit to ensure accurate information is provided on time.

  • Assists in the research and analysis of complex accounting issues to reduce exposure.
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members to assist in the smooth and continuously improving operation of the department.

  • Assist in the compilation of balance sheets and income statements for monthly reporting as well as annual financial statements.
  • Special projects as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree CPA and/or Master's degree (preferred)

  • Must have 6+ years in accounting related positions, including corporate experience in a financial services related company (preferably retail finance and/or insurance).

  • Must have 2+ years managing or supervising in accounting related department.

  • Experience in derivatives and hedge accounting, a plus.

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles ranging from the overall accounting structure to detailed journal entries in order to discuss/challenge accounting issues with outside auditors. Preferably Oracle or SAP experience.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND:

  • Ability to prepare on-time and accurate consolidated financial statements, audits, and other financial information for Executive management.

  • Ability to troubleshoot system problems and research complex accounting issues, Offer ideas for improvements to increase efficiency while increasing or maintaining accuracy.

  • Demonstrate the highest of integrity in all things.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for all facets of position.

  • A self-starter with effective leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP (preferred) or other ERP with the ability to learn all software packages.
