We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant for a stable, reputable company in Richmond, VA. This position is open as a result of a retirement and it will report directly to the Controller and work closely with a team of 6 in accounting and finance. It is a very collaborative and close knit team and this person will have the expsoure to a broad range of responsibilities and special projects. The team also enjoys very good work/life balance with very little overtime.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of the detailed internal monthly reporting package
• Assist in monthly preparation of financial statements
• Perform analysis of key performance indicators and variances
• Engage in the more critical and complex aspects of accounting and conduct technical research to assist with GAAP compliance
• Preparation of detailed balance sheet, income statement and cash flow information for budget and forecasts
• Assist with internal controls and improving processes
• Perform general ledger analysis, prepare reconciliations and journal entries
• Assist with special projects

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years of corporate accounting
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
• Strong system skills including MS Excel
