Senior Accountant


As a member of the Global Corporate Accounting team, the Global Accounting Senior Accountant role is responsible for ensuring high quality and timely worldwide general ledger accounting and acts as a key resource to the organization for accounting guidance and support.This Global Accounting Senior Accountant position is located in Southfield, MI, reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting. Paid relocation may be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and process various aspects of the global accounting function, ensuring that general ledger transactions and positions are accounted for properly in accordance with firm policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP).
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls, as well as timeliness and quality of the monthly close process.
  • Act as a key point of contact for the external and internal auditors and provide audit coordination and support.
  • Create tools to facilitate monthly general ledger analytical review procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to further leverage financial systems; improve efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external financial reporting.
  • Serve as a key resource to the organization for accounting guidance and support.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and support firm initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with emphasis in accounting required.
  • CPA with minimum 3 years public accounting experience required (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred).
  • Ability to execute the completion of high quality and detailed work product.
  • Self-motivated; Initiates activities with high degree of drive, passion, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Ability to communicate and present with impact across multiple levels, functions and locations
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively and adopt to changing circumstances to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and under time constraints.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables.
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) system a plus.
  • Must have the ability to work full time in a fast-paced office environment; Must be physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the work day.
