Job Description

The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses with commentary.
  • Manage general ledger and assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries including month-end accruals.
  • Assist in inventory management including the evaluation of standard costs, warranty and freight expense.
  • Prepare, analyze and distribute monthly regional revenue and cost of sales reports.
  • Work in a collaborative environment with both the accounting and FP&A team to support account analysis and financial modeling to identify business risks and opportunities.
  • Model the impact of price changes on product mix in close alignment with sales analyst and FP&A Manager.
  • Work closely with the inventory and cost analyst to plan and conduct periodic internal audits of policies and procedures at all company warehouse locations.
  • Assist in the collection of requested documentation for quarterly and annual SOX compliance as well as support for external audits.
  • Support accounting and ops teams with coordination and analysis of periodic inventory cycle counts of all company warehouse locations.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of government reporting (e.g. BEA and US Census Bureau) • Assist in commission and bonus calculation as it relates to the regional sales teams.
  • Work cross functionally with all areas of the business with a heavy emphasis on operations and sales.
  • Develops and implements accounting policies procedures and consistently looks for ways to streamline current processes to optimize performance.
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • Three (3) plus years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • CPA or other similar certification considered favorably skills
  • Excellent general ledger knowledge and sound understanding of accounting principles in both theory and practical application. •
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Excellent analytical and modeling skills.
  • Exceptional MS Excel skills including usage of pivot tables, Vlook-ups and advanced formulas.
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a high demand environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with Oracle preferred or other ERP software.
