Job Description - Senior Accountant

Summary

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for performing specific accounting tasks that include but are not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Month/Year end close, Financial Analysis and any audit items delegated from the Accounting Manager and Upper Management.
The ideal candidateWwill perform these tasks while maintaining a positive and productive relationship with for the company employees, vendors, and clients by personally performing these duties or through subordinate staff members.

Reports To

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Coordinate with managers and personnel to ensure that the goals and objectives relating to the Accounting Department are achieved, and carried out in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

● Ensure the accuracy and timely entry of all items into the Accounting programs.

● Timely and professional response to emails and customer requests through shared Accounting

email.

● Participation in the development and improvement of processes and internal controls.

● Maintaining a positive relationship with customers and vendors alike.

● Updating and maintaining QuickBooks files and all additional resources used to complete tasks.

● Weekly bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger as needed.

● P&L analysis to ensure transactions are coded to the proper GL account.

● Assist with month-end reconciliation and monthly/quarterly tax preparation.

● Analyze financial data in order to prepare financial reports.

● Prepare year end 1099 reporting and collection of Form W-9 from vendors.

● Assist in annual audit.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required

● High School Diploma or equivalent.

● Minimum of 3 years of Accounting experience.

● Must have experience with QuickBooks Online, Gmail/Google Drive & Microsoft Word.

● Advanced proficiency in Excel (data analysis, v-lookups, pivot tables, etc).

● Experience performing Bank and Credit Card reconciliations.

● Experience working with other employees in an accounting department.

● Strong knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting and GAAP concepts.

● Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete assignments within deadlines.

● Must be able to work as part of a team and independently, in a high stress and fast paced

environment-ability to focus during busy periods throughout the month and year.

● Calculate and enter accruals.

● Assist with monthly and quarterly tax preparation.

● Must be a highly motivated and organized, as well as have extreme attention to detail.

● Must have a valid driver's license.

● Be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

● Must be able to work nights as needed (does not occur on a regular basis).

● Must be able to read, write and speak English.

● Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Highly Desirable

● Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

● General Ledger Accounting Experience

● Bill.com Experience

● QuickBooks Online Experience

● Experience with regulatory reporting

● Experience in full cycle audits

● Experience or interest in the Aviation Industry
