Job Description

Established not for profit organization is currently searching for a Senior Accountant to join our team. Ideally we are looking for someone to assist the Director of Finance with month-end closing functions, grants analysis and reporting, and other accounting responsibilities in a busy department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of day-to-day financial management, including journal entries, reconciliations, grants management, and the general ledger.
  • Bookkeeping duties for all revenues and expenses, including bank deposits
  • Creates and maintains organizational systems for financial backup documentation
  • Takes the lead and acts as primary point person for interim audit work
  • Assist with the financial audit and tax preparation
  • Supports and provides data for compliance reporting
  • Manages the month-end reconciliation and close process
  • Assists in the management of annual budgets and related documents to forecast financial performance
  • Creates budget documents for new and potential grants
  • Monitors grant spending in accordance with grantor's policies and expectations
  • Assists with grant management as necessary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • At least 4 years of general accounting experience; ideally 2+ years of broad financial experience for nonprofit organizations
  • Must have grants accounting experience
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  • Professional integrity, flexibility, and a reflective attitude with a passion for education
