Job Description

Vaco is searching for a Senior Accounting Manager for a well-established, privately-held Memphis company. Highly visible position with a fantastic culture and work environment!

As a key member of the accounting and finance team, the Accounting Senior Manager will lead and oversee the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll departments. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the company's accounting systems, which include payroll, accounts payable, cash flow, fixed assets, and revenue. As well as completing the accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions for multiple operating and holding companies. He or she will also assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial and operational reporting to guide management and other staff in budgeting, reviewing the company's financial position, and other strategic and operational objectives. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring accurate and timely internal controls over financial transactions is critical to success in this role.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee financial transactions and ensure their proper posting to the general ledger
    • Assist the Sr. Manager of Treasury & Finance with accurate recording of sales and related expenses
    • Review of business unit operating statements to ensure accuracy and reasonableness
      • Work closely with Operations to research and resolve any questions or discrepancies related to the financial statements
      • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the company's operating companies
      • Assist the Director of Accounting & Finance with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
      • Assist in the preparation and updating of operating unit and company budgets, financial analyses and forecasting
      • Prepare, accumulate and review information required for the annual audit and preparation of annual tax returns
      • Assist in identifying improvements in accounting practices and internal controls
      • Oversee reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and bank accounts, as assigned
        • Supervise GL, Payroll, and Accounts Payable staff in their preparation of accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial statement review and report distribution

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

■ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

■ CPA preferred

■ Supervisory experience required

■ A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Accounting

■ Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is required

■ Strong problem solving, financial analytical abilities and excellent attention to detail

■ Strong work ethic with independent initiative to handle multiple tasks within deadlines

■ Proficient in Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of accounting software packages

■ Ability to work with minimal supervision on multiple tasks, meeting business needs and deadlines

■ Problem solving and decision-making skills.

■ Excellent oral and written communication skills

■ Team player with strong interpersonal skills

■ Limited travel and overtime required
