We are currently recruiting for a Senior Cost Accountant position for rapidly growing manufacturing company located close to Charlottesville, VA.

This position will report to the Controller and work closely with the CFO and production teams. It is a newly created position that will be highly visible and will focus on helping to drive the company's financial profitability.


  • Provide and analyze cost and profitability reporting for new and existing products and provide management with the cost analysis necessary to make informed business decisions.
  • Perform analysis of overhead costs at product and customer level and develop allocation methodologies for expenses related to products
  • Work with divisional operations personnel to establish and maintain accurate standard costs including approving bills of material, scrap percentages, and routing instructions for work orders as requested by operations managers.
  • Serve as company subject matter expert and point person for inventory and costs
  • Review current cost and inventory processes and develop process improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze ways to review and account for inventory reserves as well as other items involving inventory valuation (LCM, obsolete, slow moving inventory, shrink, etc)
  • Manage transactions associated with standard costs including journal entries, work order completions, and analysis of cost variances accounts.
  • Assist with preparation of operational budgets related to manufacturing expenses and cost/benefit and ROI analysis for new product lines, new equipment, new accounts, and determining the most efficient manufacturing points


  • BS in Accounting/Finance, CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of accounting and financial analysis experience
  • Extensive manufacturing industry and cost accounting/analysis
  • Solid system skills including advanced Excel and experience with large ERP systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop relationships across the company
