Job Description

Our client has an immediate opportunity for a skilled Senior Cost Accountant in Columbus, OH. Target salary $60-80k Base (possibly more based on experience). Excellent company culture and benefits. Travel less than 10%.

As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for all cost accounting activities. This involves preparing and analyzing financial information as well as performing collection duties. You will be accountable for ensuring that all financial deadlines are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with oversight of inventory accounting, physical and cycle counts, valuation methods and proper allocation of labor and overhead rates to material costs
  • Understanding of standard costing, bill of materials, WIP, COGS, labor and overhead variances
  • Preparing entries to accounts
  • Reconciling accounting ledgers by posting account transactions, month end close process
  • Preparing financial reports summarizing account information and trends
  • Resolving account discrepancies
  • Communicating financial information to department heads and product line managers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 3 years of cost accounting experience, preferrably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with JD Edwards a plus
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with department heads
