Job Description

Vaco is working with a larger well known companiy in Memphis that is looking to add a Senior Cost Accountant to their team. The Senior Cost Accountant is a Business Partner for Engineering Teams with heavy emphasis on new product launches for Knees, Hips, and Trauma franchises for Orthopedic products. Assist with developing cost structure for new products or processes for margin improvement and sourcing decisions. We are seeking an energetic team player with excellent communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Leaders and Commercial Finance to review and submit Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) to procure capital equipment for new product launches.
  • Assist with providing cost information and validating the financial template based on the business case financials and/or project savings for CER approval.
  • Work with Project Leaders to monitor and track capital spending and in-service dates for timely capitalization.
  • Assist with forecast projections for Capital Expenditures and depreciation expense on capital procured related to new product launches.
  • Cost Center support - period-end closing, monthly journal entries, issue cost center statements, and various financial reports.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting and assist with global consolidations.
  • Prepare Make vs Make vs Buy analysis for product sourcing decisions.
  • Participate in staff and project meetings with Business Partners and Global Sourcing Committee meetings (bi-weekly), if applicable.
  • Prepare reconciliations for internal audit purposes when applicable.
  • Implement process improvements/streamline processes as required.
  • Identify opportunities, risks, and performance outliers.
  • Share data driven insights (quantitative and qualitative) that help Finance Business Partners deliver to targeted outcomes. Develop metrics for tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree- Accounting Major; MBA preferred.
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting new product launch and capital management a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel and Access, SAP, managing large amounts of data, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, detail-oriented, quick learner, and team player.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended time periods.
