Senior Inventory / General Ledger Accountant - Stable and Growing Multi-Entity Transportation Co - Norfolk - Pay to $65K

Role and Responsibilities:

A successful, multi-entity transportation company is seeking a SENIOR INVENTORY & GL ACCOUNTANT to join its Norfolk corporate team. This is a fabulous opportunity to work directly for the controller in a challenging role focused on complex accounting, GL close, and financial statements and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • General ledger month-end close including reconciliations and adjusting entries
  • Inventory cost and quantity variance analysis and refunds
  • Reconcile Inventory Valuation Report to General Ledger and manage fixed assets
  • Monitor distributor price changes and analyze and resolve price differences
  • Manager rebranding products, enter repackaging transactions, and ensure cost and quantity are correct
  • Analyze Sales detail report and identify outlier transactions
  • Analyze inventory turns and monitor aging products; and identify slow movers for action
  • Prepare business meeting reporting packages
  • Reconcile inventory subledger to general ledger and report and resolve changes
  • Verify no journal entries have been posted to the Inventory Clearing Account
  • Ensure all Purchase Out of Consigned accounts have been vouchered and paid to Suppliers at correct price
  • Prepare financial statements according to GAAP including balance sheet, P&L, and cash flows for multiple entities
  • Prepare financial analysis including a variety of ad hoc analysis and reports focused on financial position, operational performance, and business scenarios
  • Prepare consolidations and intercompany transactions
  • Participate in audit preparation, systems and process enhancements, and audit preparation

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
  • 4+ years of accounting experience with an emphasis on Inventory, GL, and financial reporting and analysis
  • Strong experience with inventory, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and financial and operational analysis
  • Strong computer knowledge including experience with large ERPs and advanced ability with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment, with transportation industry highly preferred
