Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The International Finance Manager is responsible for leading the department in forecasting, budgeting, development/transaction review, financial systems, operational modeling, and ad-hoc analysis for the international business segment to support decision making of the senior management team.

POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Periodic Reporting (40%) - Partner with the International team to accurately report KPIs related to Sales, China JV P&L, Ops Balanced Scorecard, and other financial metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; identify variances to forecast, budget, and prior year utilizing "Bridge" methodology, and develop actionable insights; lead the quarterly forecast and annual budget processes for International inputs, including establishment and adherence to required timelines.
  • Franchise Health (20%) - Manage the collection of franchisee P&Ls and Balance Sheets, and perform financial statement analysis to detect risks proactively; summarize store-level P&Ls, establish benchmarking norms, and identify opportunities; finance point-person for new franchise business reviews.
  • Develop "Center of Excellence" (20%) - identify, develop, and promote best practices for the international franchisee system; partner with VP, International Marketing to establish guidelines for marketing analysis, menu pricing architecture, margin improvement, overall restaurant economics; partner with IT to improve sales data collection from various franchise stores.
  • Ad Hoc Project Support (20%) - Support VP, Finance and Pres, International on strategic projects, which may include joint ventures, M&A, direct investment; assist with improvements to existing franchisee new application/transfer process and rules.

SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: None currently

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Member of Finance Operations team, reports to Director of Finance Operations, has weekly interaction with the President, International and VP, Finance; frequent contact with C-Level officers and their direct reports, and interaction with the CFO.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate Degree from accredited 4-year university in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management required; MBA preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in Finance role or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to partner comfortably with teammates and other departments
  • Able to develop actionable insights, even when faced with imperfect data sets; strong analytical mindset
  • Must be proficient/advanced in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with databases and Business Intelligence tools is a plus; the ability to adapt quickly to technology changes is required
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and desire to dig into the details to solve problems
  • Experience in international company and/or multi-unit retail preferred
