JOB SUMMARY

Vaco Technology is currently seeking a Senior Manager (IT Operations / Transformation) for a 6M C2H or Direct-Hire (based on candidate preference) located in Dallas, TX. The Senior Manager (IT Operations / Transformation) will be responsible for the Transformation and Transition of a Traditional OnPrem Highly-Virtualized environment to a more DevOps-Centric and Automated Environment in tandem with the Traditional IT Operations responsibilities. The established DevOps / Cloud (Azure) Team is highly effective in the utilization of DevOps Tools (Kubernetes / Docker / Script Automation) coupled with streamlined Azure / Azure AD, etc. The main objective of this role is to bring the more Traditional environment into a more automated DevOps structure, including following DevOps Best Practices, Policies, and Procedures. This will include the management of a team of 20 Traditional Engineers (2 Team Leaders, 4-5 Consultants, and 13-14 varying levels of Engineers) coupled with the responsibility of intensive guidance, coaching, and leading the efforts to minimize resistance to the changes, including skills training and promotion of the acceptance of transitioning to technologies that are far more streamlined, effective, and automated where possible.

Position Objective: This company is a couple of years into a Digital Transformation with established DevOps Processes based on the SAFe Methodology. The Senior Manager of IT Operations will assist in the next steps of leading the Transformation by building out the Cloud Operations Procedures (Azure) combined with implementing Automation / DevOps Best Practices, Policies, and Procedures within the more Traditional Operations environments, where possible. Those responsibilities will also be coupled with the Traditional IT Operations Management responsibilities.

Transformation / Transition Responsibilities

  • Lead the Transformation of the IT Operations Team from Traditional Operations to a Cloud-Native NetOps Team.
  • Lead the Transformation of the Current Organization into a NetOps Delivery Organization.
  • Lead, guide, and support multiple workstream leads and the implementation of targeted change strategies - identification of change impact to people, policies, processes, and structure.
  • Stakeholder identification and alignment with the appropriate communication and feedback loops, success measures, training, organizational readiness, and long-term sustainability, etc.
  • Develop Operational Best Practices and communicate those Standards to Leadership.
  • Maintain working documentation and visual schemas of the environment.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Enterprise Services to develop and implement secure and repeatable processes via Automation Tools and to develop, define, and implement branch strategies for UCaaS, NaaS, SD-WAN, and Privileged Remote Access (Zero Trust Model).
  • Develop thorough cost estimations for new projects, including capital, labor, and expense variables, etc.

Traditional Operations Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight, strategic, and operational leadership over Enterprise Operations Teams.
  • Traditional IT Enterprise Operations Management: Core Networking (Switching / Routing / MPLS / Wireless, etc.), Network Security (Firewalls / Load Balances / IPS Routers / Switches / Wireless, etc.), Database Administration (SQL Server / Oracle), Server Administration (Windows / Linux), Data Center Systems, Virtualization (VMware ESX / VXRail / NSX), Active Directory Identity Services, implementing Azure AD Strategy for the enterprise, Branch Technology Support / MS Email Services via Office 365, etc.
  • Lead teams contributing during M&A effort and primarily working on Systems Integrations with email, identity management and connectivity, and Security Best Practices.
  • Heavy involvement with multiple IT functional domains (Application Development / Architecture / Security / Branch Operations, etc.).
  • Lead Several Technology Teams across multiple disciplines responsible for creating and supporting a Highly-Available Enterprise Environment, in excess of 7K Nodes.
  • Develop and implement proactive Network Security Standards and protect the enterprise from bad actors across the globe.
  • Manage and drive the tactical aspects of all M&A efforts, focusing on the Integration Phase.
  • Responsible for the management, security, and daily operations of multiple Data Centers.
  • Ensure that Database platforms are optimized for agility and performance.
  • Maintain working documentation and visual schemas of the environment.
  • Manage technology utilization and capacity planning for the enterprise.
  • Responsible for production incident management, support, and developing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
  • Provide assessment solutions to address technology and business issues.
  • Responsible for the management, security, and daily operations of multiple Data Centers.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varied levels of complexity within a deadline-driven environment.
  • Lead branch infrastructure deployments, including new office setups and configurations, etc.
  • Manage the financial resources of the company while delivering quality technology solutions.
  • Provide operational feedback to leadership and provide alternative approaches, when needed.
