Sr. Manager of Revenue Recognition

This Senior Manager will be supervising a team of 5-9 individuals who have solid revenue accounting experience. The Senior Manager should be someone who can take control of the day-to-day operations of the revenue group, managing the revenue system, etc. so that the Director can focus on more strategic areas.

Candidates need to be strong from a technical accounting standpoint (ASC 606, software revenue recognition, SOX, etc.) and should have good leadership/mentor skills in order to effectively supervise the team.

The Sr. Revenue Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the revenue accounting monthly/quarterly close functions are performed completely, timely and in accordance with US GAAP. This position will be a key part of the finance team.

S/he will work closely with the accounting, finance, order management and IT groups to ensure that the company's revenue is recorded correctly and that the revenue systems are updated and maintained regularly and will also manage and mentor the work of several revenue accountants.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end close tasks associated with revenue recognition, including the review of deferred revenue reconciliations, validating deferred revenue, and the posting of monthly revenue journal entries, as required
  • Assist Revenue Director by providing advisory assistance to sales organizations with respect to product launches and new product offerings and related promotions to prevent technical accounting, policy or process issues in the area of revenue recognition
  • Lead initiatives for ongoing process and systems improvements for ERP system and the revenue system to increase compliance, integrity, scalability and transparency
  • Works closely with the Order Management, Credit and Collection, and Sales Operations to ensure compliance with the company's revenue recognition policy and facilitates revenue-related information exchange
  • Review specific price promotion and/or exception documentation for potential revenue implications
  • Review contracts/agreements to identify pertinent terms and issues to account for them appropriately in the systems and suggest resolutions to business managers
  • Work actively with external auditors to ensure that revenue recognition interpretations are consistent and compliant with GAAP
  • Assist with implementation of ASC 606 guidance
  • Manage software updates and programming information needed to maintain the revenue software package
Minimum Qualifications for consideration:
  • Reviewing, researching, analyzing and accounting for complex accounting transactions under both ASC 605 and 606.
  • Preparing technical memos and ensure compliance with US GAAP and perform deal reviews.
  • Preparing SSP calculations and analyses.
  • Industry experience with at least 2-3 years specifically related to revenue recognition working with multiple element arrangements and software revenue recognition (SOP 97-2, 08-1).
