Job Description

Our Client, located in west Indianapolis,is looking to add a leader to their project management team. An ideal candidate would be an experienced project manager who will be the guide to other mid-level project managers.

Responsibilities

  • The Project Manager managers the project team of consultants, contractors and suppliers who are responsible for implementing the chosen solution for a medium to complex project
  • The Project Manager assures completion of planning, developing, designing, constructing and activating facilities Projects are large, complex civil works, new or modified buildings and advanced supporting systems
  • Project Managers have a responsibility to the Department Directors and a line responsibility to the Senior Director of Planning & Development
  • Provide training and oversite for entry and mid-level project managers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Planning and Developing Projects

  • Helps develop business objectives and the corporate culture framework for the project
  • Prepares requests for professional services, evaluates and ranks consultant's qualifications, recommends selections, negotiates scope of work, costs and contracts for consulting services
  • Produces plans for execution of the project and each stage of the project. Produces the project descriptions, cost estimate and schedules. Develops a procurement strategy
  • Helps prepare AIP and state grant applications
  • Ensures incorporation of grant assurances and conditions into consulting and construction contracts
  • Establishes programs for assessment of cost, time, quality, risk, safety and effect on the environment
  • Leading and Directing Efforts of the Project Team

  • Directs the bidding and award of construction and supplier contracts, including advertising for bids, pre-bid meetings, analysis of bids and recommendations for award
  • Authorizes payments, approves changes, oversees quality and determines satisfactory completion
  • Monitors performance of the project team against phase and overall execution plans and budgets and initiates corrective action where required
  • Provides regular progress reports identifying current performance and highlighting decisions required
  • Holds regular reviews of designs and construction to ensure quality and conformance with project purpose and budget

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an undergraduate degree in engineering or architecture (graduate degree preferred) or a related discipline
  • Registration as a professional engineer or Architect in the State of Indiana is desired
  • Additional course work in management and business is desired
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in the engineering and construction field
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the planning, location, design and construction of engineering and architectural projects, including through knowledge of FAA criteria
  • Ability to direct the preparation of engineering designs, records, and reports and to prepare concise reports
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other personnel, city county and state federal engineering agencies; and the general public
  • Ability to provide guidance and training to other project managers
