Job Description

Vaco Atlanta is recruiting a Senior Staff Accountant for a great client of ours in Kennesaw. The position will be responsible for a variety of month end close activities, such as journal entries, reconciliations and preparation of numerous reports and analyses in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Company Operating Policies and Procedures. Our client is located in Kennesaw and the targeted salary range is $62,000 - $70,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a variety of month end close activities, which may include but is not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, amortizations, accruals, deferrals and other adjusting entries.
  • Responsible for Fixed Asset Accounting according to GAAP and company policies for approvals, assessing proper asset life and type, and journalizing acquisitions, depreciation and disposals. Duties include maintaining proper documentation, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Perform monthly financial analyses of expense trends and budget variances.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of monthly financial information to parent company.
  • Compile internal financial reports and analyses for senior management.
  • Assist with both external financial audits and internal control audits, preparing required worksheets and documents.
  • Assist with continued efforts to automate, create efficiencies and conversion to a paperless environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookups and filters.
  • Other projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Associates degree in Accounting or minimum of 12 college hours of Accounting successfully completed is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • Minimum one year of related experience in a complex accounting system environment, with multiple systems and applications, using data integration, imports and exports. Or minimum of 1 year in public accounting / CPA track.
  • Strong month end close experience with exposure to the whole close cycle & complete chart of accounts.
  • Proven ability to handle complicated reconciliations for bank accounts and all balance sheet accounts.
  • Experience with Fixed Assets, depreciation and amortization.
  • Experience with Cost Accounting, Manufacturing and/or Inventory Accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with international accounting practices and multiple currencies is a plus.
  • Accounting processes and well documented electronic archiving in a paperless environment is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Financial Reporting.
  • Proven ability to work in a complex computer based accounting software, with an understanding of system processes, data flow and integration to other applications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivots, v-lookups, sum-if statements and data connections.
  • Other Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook and Power Point
