Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing technical support within the team of Systems Administrators. Areas of support includes but are not limited to; VMware, Horizon, Veeam, Windows Servers administration. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems within established standards and guidelines. Expected to work independently within management and company guidelines. The System Administrator will have mentoring responsibility for other System Administrators, Desktop and Helpdesk Support Technical positions. The System Administrator will work with management in establishing processes, controls, security, and strategy around system support initiatives. Candidate will be responsible to manage and maintain a large VMware installation including LINUX and Windows Servers virtual machines. Responsible for managing Virtual Servers and Storage resources. Candidate will be required to work after hours and on the weekends as necessary. Oncall rotation required. Excellent understanding of VMware 6 and 6.5 in addition to VMware Horizon.

Expectations over and above those of a System Administrator III include;

• Recommendations in design and new system specification

• Responsibility for high complexity enterprise systems

• Lead role in a wide area of technical expertise

• Mentoring of other technical support staff

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains Hypervisor, operating systems and related software to ensure stable performance.

• Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.

• Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.

• Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations/

• Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.

• Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

• Troubleshoots networking and operating systems problems.

• Help develops backup and recover strategy.

• Incorporate Information Security Best Practices in all aspects of Systems Management

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Mentoring of other Technical Support staff.

• Training of staff members within and without the Systems Administration Department

• Works with and understands the roles of members of other departments

• Facilitate knowledge transfer of system support procedures and nuances

• Performs other duties as necessary.

Education and Experience

o Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience.

o Experience in Windows Servers administration.

o Experience with Veeam backups

o 3 years' experience in VMware and Horizon administration.

Machines, Equipment and Technical Abilities

In performing the essential job functions, the employee will be required to have familiarity with the following computer technologies:

• Knowledge of Windows Servers operating environments, as well as exposure to industry products, terminology and trends.

• Knowledge of VMware and Horizon environments.

• Knowledge of Veeam

• Experience with MS Active Directory
