Job Description:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, architecture, and support of the Windows Server environment. In this role, you will work directly with core internal and external customers to ensure that system availability and reliability is maintained in order to meet customer needs.

Description:

  • Provide a stable, functional environment, and ensure service availability and integrity meets business and customer needs
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and tools to support system monitoring and incident resolution/escalation
  • Provide proactive responses and analysis of system issues as well as project planning and prioritization

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree from 4-year institution, with emphasis in Information Technology, or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the Information Technology Infrastructure Administration
  • Strong technical acumen specific to Microsoft Windows Server operating systems in an enterprise environment supporting over 800 servers and multiple sites
  • Experienced with Certificate Authority administration, best practices, and management of certificates in an enterprise environment
  • Strong PowerShell scripting background for administrative tasks, standardization, desired state configuration, and automation
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining vSphere in a Cisco UCS environment
  • Familiar with integrating enterprise environments to cloud services such as Azure or AWS
  • Experience with planning, designing and testing disaster recovery/business continuity scenarios
  • Experience with building, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft based clusters
  • Knowledge of SAN/NAS architecture with NetApp storage is preferred
  • History of managing and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Diagnose, solve or assist staff in solving non-routine or complex software, hardware, and procedural problems
  • Ensure all platforms conform to the company's configuration, performance and security requirements and standards
  • Analyze and minimize the impact of production changes on business operations by leveraging test/validation processes, process documentation and change management
  • Knowledge of data replication, storage protocols, network protocols and connectivity
  • Maximize system availability and optimize the end user experience
  • Work with team members and manager to develop long term vision and road map strategy for responsible platforms in alignment with organizational and company strategic objectives
  • Analyze business needs and conduct research for technical and procedural solutions Implement and monitor process improvement efforts, including quantifiable measures of success
  • Lead project efforts and work with IT and business partners to define project scope, identify and prioritize requirements, and building thorough, clean project plans
  • Participate in on-call rotation with Server and Storage Team
  • Expert with diagnostic tools, administrative tools and performance optimization/tuning
