Job Description

Vaco Indianapolis has partnered with a construction company located on the South side of Indianapolis to fill a Service Manager role!

The Service Manager is responsible to oversee all aspects of the Service Department in an ethical and professional manner in managing the administrative and customer service functions of the Department.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Maintain effective communications with appropriate personnel, keeping them informed of all aspects relevant to the duties to which they have been assigned
  • Maintain appropriate staffing level and workload distribution to meet customer and business needs
  • Provide needed development training for members of the group
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and recommend policy changes as needed
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the Service Department and expense control
  • Analyze service productivity and recommend changes to improve customer service and profitability
  • Maintain ongoing maintenance schedules for service accounts
  • Assist or assign assistance for technician on accounts to ensure work quality
  • Schedule work activities
  • Communicate with employees
  • Enforce corporate policies
  • Ensure that staff members participate fully in all corporate and other training as required
  • Oversee work and actions of all Direct Reports to insure that the responsibilities listed in their job descriptions are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner, including assurance of accuracy
  • Conduct Performance Management reviews with all Direct Reports in accordance with the corporate Performance Management Reviews
  • Provide adequate information to staff members concerning department activities on a regular basis to allow complete coordination of department staff through the use of regularly scheduled department meetings
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor or which are logically inherent to this position
  • Work with your supervisor to identify "critical path activities" of this position and, when directed, prepare documentation of the major process required to accomplish these activities and submit to supervisor for final approval. Once approved, insure that other staff members understand the process and can provide adequate back-up for these "critical path" activities. Review documentation on at least an annual basis and make necessary adjustments to reflect current processes
  • Be willing to work whatever hours are necessary to ensure that job duties are performed completely and accurately.

Desired Education and/or Experience Level

  • High School Diploma
  • Apprenticeship graduate or similar preferred
  • Five years' experience in the construction industry, preferably electrical
