Job Description

Our client, a small company located in Birmingham, AL, is looking to add a Controller to manage their entire accounting function. This role will help establish and coordinate accounting procedures for the entire company. Duties will include day-to-day operations, month-end close procedures, journal entry postings, GL account reconciliations, internal control maintenance, financial compliance of financial statements, and daily and/or weekly analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, requiring little to no supervision. To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to think outside the box to determine how factors affect accounting as well as how they impact business decisions.


* Managing full cycle accounting and financial reporting

* Establishing and coordinating all accounting procedures for the business unit

* Analyzing financial data to identify trends/variances

* Handling AP, AR, Payroll, Tax functions as well as some cost allocation

* Providing daily and/or weekly analysis, and reporting on operational performance as it relates to the business activities

* Assisting in the formulation of the budget and preparing the monthly budget variance analyses


* A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

* 3 - 5 years of related experience, public accounting experience a strong plus

* CPA is preferred

* Strong MS Excel skills

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
