Job Description

Title: Social Media Specialist

Purpose:

This role will be responsible for providing support in engaging with a social media audience, maintaining a social media presence and developing social media content

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and craft responses to donor and fan feedback across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms using a social media dashboard. Alert team members to potential crisis situations and employ a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Cultivate audiences and facilitate conversations across social channels. Identify opportunities to develop donor and fundraiser relationships and facilitate follow up with various teams
  • Conduct industry and competitor research to evaluate strategic options for channels
  • Prepare reports of social media community engagement activities and fundraising/engagement campaigns
  • Assist in the development of strategies for fundraising and engagement campaigns as needed
  • Ensure project timelines are communicated to all stakeholders and set appropriate expectations on deliverables

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years' experience with social media - monitoring and crafting responses to donor and fan feedback across social media platforms. Can include internship as well as professional experience
  • A robust understanding of social media platforms and how they fit into an organization's content strategy
  • A driven and motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally within a high-performance work environment with various stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; requires ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency with programs used for visual and dynamic presentations including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of integrated digital channel strategies and how each channel is used to build the most efficient and effective marketing mix per program or campaign
  • Experience with public relations and crisis communication and experience working on multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Spanish language proficiency
