Duties:

Candidates with an affinity for iterative and collaborative approaches will be part of an expanding DevOps team incorporating coding/scripting and process re-engineering for ongoing operational execution of high volume delivery of scientific content using a variety of Open Source and commercial tools. The individual will be responsible for engaging in design, developing solutions, automation, monitoring applications, loading content and trouble-shooting issues.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in computer science or equivalent experience in Information Technology field
  • Strong technical background, 2+ years related to software development
  • 1 year in a DevOps role supporting builds, deployments, operational support and troubleshooting for a large scale applications platform
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation of processes
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively in agile / scrum environment.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to quickly learn new technologies

Desired skills:

  • Experience with MarkLogic and XML technologies including XQuery
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with Hadoop application development, including the Cascading or Spark frameworks and other components such as Kafka, HBase, HDFS, etc.
