Position Summary

The Applications Technical Lead - Database Technologies is responsible for taking technical ownership for the database technologies used within the firm, for both custom as well as Third Party Vendor applications. He/she is responsible for building standards for the configuration, management and administration of existing databases repositories within the White & Case environment and providing database support for Third Party Vendor applications. As part of the technical leadeship role he/she will mentor and manage the implementation of database environments, tables, objects, and storage. This includes monitoring of day-to-day database performance and implement optimizations as needed. The database technologies lead will assess emerging database technologies and how they can be utilized effectively in the W&C environment.

Duties and Accountabilities1

  • Lead the technical team and effort in on-boarding and lifecycle management for Database Management Systems and technologies.
  • Drive and establish the design and standards for on-prem implementation of DBMS technologies like Microsoft-SQL Server.
  • Develop and deploy database maintenance and monitoring solutions for production databases that support our firm systems.
  • Take lead in implementing auditing and compliance tools/solutions for production databases. This is one of the key aspect for supporting requirements for GDPR and similar compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Education/Qualifications

  • Experience in providing technical leadership in DBMS and related tech.
  • A minimum 5+ years of experience as a database analyst/administrator
  • 5+ years experience working with MS SQL Server including the versions 2012/2014/2017 on Windows Server 2012/2016 (Experience in Windows & SQL 2019 a definite plus.)
  • Extensive experience with database replication, performance monitoring, database optimization, and index utilization.
  • Strong hands-on experience in designing and deploying HA and DR solutions for DBMS (Always On Availability Group, Clustering etc.)
  • Experience in compliance and auditing tools/technologies (e.g. for GDPR)
  • Experience supporting and analyzing data models, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Experience performing database updates, upgrades, and modifying configuration parameters.
  • Experience with NetApp SAN Storage, NetBackup a plus.
  • Experience in using Project Management tools & processes such as ServiceNow a definite plus.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to facilitate work efforts.
  • Demonstrate ability to work productively with a wide range of people. Ability to effectively present information to customers and senior management.
  • Ability to manage project commitments to ensure that the project comes in on time and within budget.
  • BS Degree a must, graduate degree a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and overseas on a limited basis.
