Job Description

We are currently seeking a Sr. Accountant for an immediate need. Candidate must have corporate hands on accounting experience. Public Accounting experience is strongly preferred but not required.

  • Participate in Monthly closing process including booking accruals, journal entries and preparing account analysis
  • Prepare monthly account analyses relating to inventory reconciliations, vendor rebates, accruals, cost of goods sold, deferred rent, and others.
  • Manage the day to day activities involved in the monthly close and the preparation of the monthly internal financial reporting package for multiple entities. This includes assigning and reviewing tasks performed by senior/staff accountants and bookkeepers.
  • Collaborate and interpret monthly financial results with key finance stakeholders.
  • Utilize the general ledger application to prepare the consolidation, balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
  • Assist in preparing and maintain the annual budget.
  • Prepare quarterly debt compliance certifications.
  • Oversee the maintenance of fixed assets ledgers.
  • Prepares and records certain asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account reconciliation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate postings of various general ledger activity including revenue reporting process.
  • Prepare and review audit schedules and provide other requested documentation related to the external audit.
  • Gain an understanding of the daily operational workflow and review Accounts Payable invoices for final approval before clerical entry
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, within the day to day activities of the Accounting Department

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field required
  • Minimum 5 years relevant accounting experience required including work experience with a CPA firm and in private industry.
  • CPA preferred
  • Inventory accounting experience preferred
  • Experience utilizing finance/accounting systems preferred; Knowledge of QuickBooks and Great Plains accounting software is a plus.
  • GAAP Accounting Knowledge
  • This position will oversee a staff of 4 to 6 within the general accounting and reporting department.
