Job Summary:

The Senior Network Engineer establishes the networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards while also taking ownership for end-to-end network project management and end-to-end project implementation management and support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assist in establishing networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
* Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with the team on network optimization
* Perform LAN and WAN hardware maintenance and support
* Complete network projects including writing project scopes, requirements analysis and documentation
* Help secure network system by working with the Security Officer establishing and enforcing policies as well as defining and monitoring access
* Complete network patching and upgrades
* Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
* Accomplish information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed
* Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information, managing projects

* Provide on-call support, some multiple day travel may be required
* Perform Disaster Recovery support as related to networking

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of LAN and WAN hardware including Juniper, Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, Load Balancing, cable and rack management, and UPS support
* Knowledge of network security best practices
* Ability to manage projects and execute objectives
* Ability to make recommendations to create corporate efficiencies for all activities
* Ability to take process/project ownership
* Effective written and verbal communication
* Deep understanding of network protocols - IPSEC, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Multi-link Point2Point, RIP, Layer 2 Stretch, DHCP, SNMP, TCP, UDP

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or Engineering required
  • 5+ years of experience with Cisco, Auruba, or Juniper routers and switches
  • Minimum of three years network (routing, troubleshooting) engineering, and network architecture experience required, five years preferred
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls preferred
  • VOIP experience preferred
  • SD-WAN experience preferred
