We are currently recruiting for a Senior Tax Accountant position for a reputable, stable Richmond based Corporation

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Tax Director in completing all federal, state and local compliance and accounting requirements with timely and accurate information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax issues affecting the company and identify opportunities to reduce the tax liability of the company. Support business initiatives while seeking opportunities to maximize shareholder value, reduce risk, and manage tax liability.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify non-value-added processes and use technology to increase efficiency, including increasing automation of workpapers to improve tax compliance and close processes and increasing use of ERP system functionality.
  • Calculation of the quarterly income tax accrual under ASC 740 for domestic and certain international subsidiaries, including recording accruals in general ledger software and preparation of income tax footnotes and disclosures for SEC filings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and tax accounting changes.
  • Assist the tax department in the preparation of federal, state and local income tax returns, including calculation of quarterly estimated payments and extension payments. Consolidated federal return includes several domestic legal entities and foreign subsidiaries.
  • Research and analysis of various tax issues, including income, sales and use, and property tax.
  • Provide support for a variety of special projects, as needed, including restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and IT initiatives.
  • Identify profitability of potential mergers and acquisitions by analyzing tax information; calculating key ratios; identifying areas of tax savings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred
  • 3+ years of tax experience at a public accounting firm or in a corporate tax department
  • Strong federal and state income tax technical skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and research skills and
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers, auditors and various levels of management
