Vaco has a long term contract opportunity in Houston, TX for a Senior Windows Engineer. Local candidates only will be considered. NO 3rd party resumes please.

The Senior Windows Engineer will be responsible for the server operations within the framework of company policies and procedures and in compliance of applicable regulations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will be responsible for the maintaining servers day to day for operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • With limited supervision, design, construct, and implement complex technical segments of systems
  • Work collaboratively with IT support groups and experts (SMEs), teams, and service providers
  • Assist with BC/DR tests, procedures, and implementation of information security policies and controls
  • Identify and propose new information technologies and systems to improve business processes and decision making
  • Utilize in-depth technical knowledge and business requirements to design and implement secure solutions to meet customer / client needs
  • Build, maintain, and upgrade systems following internal policy
  • Assist with other areas of IT as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 7 years IT experience; oil and gas experience a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Windows server administration experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Experience with virtualized servers in a Windows environment
  • Able to perform detailed work with speed and accuracy
  • Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload consisting of many detailed, separate procedures and deadlines
  • Communicates effectively, both orally in person and using a telephone and in writing
  • Recognizes personal strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in self-development
  • Has a strong work ethic and takes ownership of issues to resolution


Role and Responsibilities:

Microsoft Active Directory and Server knowledge - Group Policy - Windows 7/10
Knowledge of Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016
Knowledge of VMware
Application troubleshooting and support
Able to carry out patching, server configuration and antivirus deployment & update tasks
Ability to work autonomously and implement these tools on your own accord.
Knowledge of SCCM and how it works.
Experience working with cloud services
