Staff Accountant

General Description
The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance and Accounting Department. In this newly created position, the Staff Accountant will have a broad range of responsibilities and will support the Controller in all aspects of carrying out the daily, monthly and annual activities of the Finance and Accounting Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile daily bank accounts to general ledger and prepare appropriate journal entries for approval.
  • Work with AP team in researching errors or payment discrepancies, AP system issues, etc.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and ensure depreciation is recorded accurately.
  • Maintain balance sheet accounts, reconciliations and prepare adjusting journal entries, investigate and resolve discrepancies, maintain balance sheet roll forward schedules.
  • Assist in managing month end close process - ensure close target dates are met, all reports are run in a timely fashion and are accurate, etc.
  • Assist with financial analysis - reviewing accounts, activities and providing insightful analysis.
  • Provide periodic cash flow projections and analysis.
  • Assist in preparing various tax filings and payments such as weekly payroll tax payments, quarterly and annual payroll tax filings & payments.
  • Document, understand and maintain company processes, policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit and work directly with outside auditors in responding to various audit requests.
  • Execute daily ad-hoc management projects and inquiries. (ranging from financial, risk management, operational, human resources, etc.)
  • Be knowledgeable on company IT system flows to ensure transactions, invoicing and financials are being recorded accurately.

  • BA in Accounting Preferred

  • Possess intellectual curiosity - the desire to learn new subject matters and understand the purpose of a process or subject not just the mechanics of how it works.
  • Must be confident and comfortable interacting with Executive Management and presenting findings.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication.
  • Able to adapt to changing workflows and special ad-hoc project requests.
  • Must be able to operate in the details while maintaining a big picture perspective.
  • High level of professionalism, ethics and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Other Skills
  • Must have strong level of understanding of basic Microsoft Excel functions.
