Job Description

Vaco is assisting a rapidly growing Aliso Viejo-based company recruit for a new Staff Accountant opening. This is a direct hire OR temporary-hire opportunity, in a fast-paced setting, for a very busy, very particular person. As a Staff Accountant, the candidate will perform a accounts payable, account receivable and general ledger reconciliations on a regular basis. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform full-cycle Accounts Payable process and ensure all expenses are coded and accounted for accurately, timely and in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Manage Accounts Receivable to ensure timely collections in accordance with customer terms and company policies.
  • Assist with collection calls, respond to customer inquiries and investigate disputed charges, and prepare AR and other ad-hoc reports.
  • General Ledger analysis
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Balance Sheet accounts reconciliation
  • Assistance with month-end close and financial statements preparation
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Processing filing of sales tax returns, and other local tax returns
  • Work with finance team on a variety of financial and accounting projects

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a similar fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in medium sized accounting system, NetSuite, or similar system strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and data extraction and manipulation skills (strong familiarity with v-lookups and pivot tables)
  • Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret general ledger activity
  • Well organized, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills
  • The successful candidate will be proactive, flexible and fully engaged and will have an "ownership" attitude
  • College Degree required, accounting/finance emphasis
