Vaco is seeking Billing Analyst candidates for a great client of ours in the Sandy Springs area. The scope and duties of this position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of the firm. This role is responsible for compiling data, performing analyses, utilizing various personal computer spreadsheets and programs, and developing the documentation, procedures and schedules necessary to generate and publish the monthly Participant, PPA and 3rd Party billings. This is a direct hire opportunity with a target pay range of $45-$50k + bonus.

Job Duties:

  • Under limited supervision, develops, implements, and maintains various hourly billing related analyses and systems used in preparing participant bills and agreement bills each month.
  • Assists in preparing actual to billing performance reports and related statistical analyses.
  • Prepares and analyses Participate budget vs. actual billing data and generate reports reflecting the results of these variances.
  • Develop and implement computer programs, such as Excel macros, needed to keep the billing process as efficient and accurate as possible.
  • Generates, reconciles and develops different project accounting data reports and memos for distribution to the Participants and/or other departments within the company; provides and coordinates various budget, billing, and year end settlement analyses for billing purposes.
  • Helps maintain billing documentation, the billing system and corresponding reports. Ensures that the system interfaces accurately and effectively with the appropriate internal systems or applications.
  • Generates reports, graphs and charts as requested using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and/or other financial applications such as Tableau.
  • Responds to Regional Managers in regard to Participant requests for information and assistance regarding budget vs. billing matters in a timely matter.
  • Uses professional judgment to make decisions necessary to support corporate and departmental objectives and assure the proper application of established and unusual problems through research, analysis and investigation.
  • Performs other duties of a similar or related nature and assists in other phases of departmental work as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting or related field such as Finance.
  • 3 to 7 years of utility accounting experience, demonstrating a progression in responsibilities.
  • Good analytical skills. Capable of critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to manage tasks to meet required deadlines.
  • Strong technical skills, with advanced Excel capabilities, including use of pivot tables and macros, and possess a thorough knowledge of Microsoft's suite of office software.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
  • Candidate should understand core electric utility business operations. Good working knowledge of engineering principles, power procurement, energy issues, generally accepted accounting principles for the utility industry, and a thorough understanding of billing techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of data management and information technology process and system development methods. Experience with testing of programming changes a plus.
  • Prior work experience with Great Plains, SAP Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Tableau a plus.
  • A CPA and/or MBA is preferred
