Job Description

The System Architect is responsible for the design and implementation of in-house information systems and networked architectures that support core business functions, and assure high availability. The System Architect provides technical leadership across the enterprise. Works closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective, secure and compliant technology of the business.


  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure clarity
  • Design and implement plans for managing and maintaining systems and software
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Analysts, Engineers and software development teams
  • Develop plans for architecture investment and opportunities for efficiencies
  • Research and recommend the use of emerging technologies
  • Develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems
  • Document the organizations existing systems architecture and technology portfolio
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Define organizational requirements to ensure back-end infrastructure meets compliance requirements
  • Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios
  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance; making recommendations for improvement


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or information systems
  • 7+ years related work experience
  • Prior experience in developing system architecture plans
  • Hands-on experience with gathering and analyzing business requirements
  • Proven experience in systems including network design and development
  • Strong architecture and technical support documentation skills
  • Proven project planning and management experience
  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Quickly learns and understands the organization's goals and objectives
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

This office is located in Mason, OH for a major e-commerce retailer. This is contract to hire role.
