Systems Engineer (Contract to Hire)

Irvine, CA


Under general to broad supervision, manages and allocates technology infrastructure resources by monitoring and maintaining system platforms in support of IT operations. Provides secondary support for network hardware and configurations with managed network provider. This position may serve as technical lead for projects with complex requirements including Video Conferencing (Zoom), VOIP telephony, Mac/Apple platforms. May also install and administer application software and manage the middleware component such as Revit, Autodesk design cloud, Adobe, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoots and resolves system service failures by identifying and analyzing the situation and provides corrective actions.
* Develops, installs, and tests new network hardware and software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
* Monitors systems activities and fine tunes system parameters and configuration to optimize performance and ensure security of systems.
* Provides expertise on decisions and priorities regarding systems architecture.
* Manages project scope, change management, monitors project progress and performance, and provides status reports to D&T management and Project Sponsors, as required.
* Engages with application development teams on current infrastructure projects
* Provides input into training and development plans for more junior D&T employees.
* Manages projects on time and within budget. Performs other duties as assigned.
* Documents procedures and standards. Ensures staff appropriately documents their work such as functional / technical specification, development, or architectural designs.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of six to ten years of related experience with construction project delivery

Certificate and Licenses:
Technical certifications in the specialty area, such as CISCO or other networking would be helpful.

* Solid presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to upper management and internal departments.

Scope of Responsibilities:

* Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Manages several smaller projects or single large efforts on own, with consultation and reporting to Sr. Project Manager. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
