Job Description

Responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and maintaining the server infrastructure in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures, evaluates new systems and ensures that all current systems are configured in compliance with applicable security standards (e.g. FISMA, PCI-DSS, IRS 1075). Proactively engages with IT leadership to recommend enhancements and mitigate risks within the environment.

The qualified Systems Administrator will be part of a team environment and will be responsible to administer server and storage infrastructure, including CISCO UCS, VMware virtual infrastructure, Horizon View VDI, Nimble and Active Directory services. The following are a few of the duties and responsibilities of this position:

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Administer and support Microsoft, Cisco, and VMware technologies.
  • Configure and manage the storage environment including replication/recovery.
  • Manage and configure VMWare Horizon View VDI environment.
  • Design and implement procedures for monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security standards and requirements.
  • Conduct Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
  • Assist with hardware and software evaluations, recommendations and negotiations.
  • Manage data backup operations and follow procedures to ensure that all data backups are successful, secure, and recoverable.
  • Define and document best practices and support procedures.
  • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans.
  • Provide after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance.
  • Provide end-user support and training as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline - or proven equivalent professional experience as Systems Administrator.
  • At least 3-5 years of Systems Administrator experience.
  • Specific detailed knowledgeAdvanced knowledge of Windows Servers (2008/2012 /2016) and desktop Operating Systems.
  • Proficient in managing server virtualization technology (VMware).
  • Advance knowledge of Active Directory Users and Groups, including GPO administration.
  • Basic knowledge of networking and management of network devices like switches, routers and firewalls a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of security standards and implementation of security procedures to maintain compliance with security requirements.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated individual that can work independently on a variety of simultaneous projects.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, occasional after hours/weekend work required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to document new processes and procedures.
