*Systems Engineer *Infrastructure Engineer*

One of our local clients is looking for a Systems Engineer to join their team on site in Raleigh, NC. This individual will support the infrastructure that is the base on which our customer sales and service applications are built. Examples of this position are WINDOWS or UNIX system administrators, OS/390, and DBA(s). These individuals will deal with a variety of hardware platforms, operating systems, and complex software. They will be responsible for installing, maintaining, tuning, debugging, and performing the daily administration to keep the Bank's computer systems running. The mainframe environment alone has over 100 program products that cover items such as tape management, job scheduling, storage management, and automated operations.

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to with expertise in the TOP SKILLS:

  • Leadership responsibility of systems engineers
  • Gain project management skills
  • Solid technical expertise focused in multiple areas that support technical infrastructure
  • Technical Infrastructure includes OS/390 and subsystems, CICS, VTAM, MQ series, Microsoft Windows, email, WEB infrastructure, UNIX OS, database administration, information architecture, data modeling, enterprise reporting framework (Cognos),and performance, TCP/IP, SAN, and Tivoli.
  • Strong installation, testing, debugging and production migration skills are required.

Microsoft Windows Server experience on an admin/ engineering level:

  • Support experience should include installation, setup and configuration, and troubleshooting with emphasis on data structures and file systems.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as Assembler, Rexx, ksh, and or Perl.
  • An understanding of data flow and network interfaces and protocols such as systems network architecture (SNA), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), and NetBIOS Extended User Interface (NetBEUI).
  • Database Administrators/ Systems Engineers must have an expert level relational database management system (RDBMS) fundamentals and design principles, experience tuning databases and applications using such tools as original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Quest, or other tuning tools. Multiplatform such as DB2, SQL Server, Oracle.
  • Strong technical abilities, quick study of new technology via on the job training, the intellect to resolve complex problems logically and methodically, and good judgment to involve and communicate with vendors, senior level technicians, and management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Systems Engineer Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years work experience as a systems engineer in an enterprise data center environment with at least 1 year working as a systems programmer, UNIX/Network administrator, or Tivoli support.

Systems Engineer Preferred Requirements:

  • Certifications such as A+ Certification,MCP, MCSE, CCNA, IBM (Tivoli) Certified Deployment Professional and Scripting Languages.
