Job Description

Overview of the Role

This role is responsible for a variety of income tax related projects, including federal and state income tax return preparation, planning and issue identification. The role also includes tax reserve, quarterly tax provision and sales and use tax responsibilities. The role requires effective research, documentation, and communication skills. The role will often work with functions outside of tax to obtain pertinent information.

This role requires a person with an inquisitive and analytical thought process who enjoys involvement in all aspects of taxation. This role often works independently to complete assignments that vary and may be complex.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in variety of functions necessary for income tax return preparation and review, research, and planning including estimated payments
  • Prepares quarterly tax provision work papers
  • Assists with tax notices and audits
  • Identifies and analyzes tax planning opportunities
  • Assist and provide analytical support in special tax projects

Supervisory Responsibilities


Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret and use various tax materials, forms and instructions.
  • Ability to understand and interpret the Internal Revenue Code and regulations and apply the information.
  • Comprehensive accounting knowledge.
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize complex procedures with little guidance.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge.
  • RIA OneSource, SAP, CCH ProSystem fx knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be detail orientated and highly analytical, and be able to identify tax issues and opportunities.
  • MUST HAVE minimum one to two years' experience in TAX.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience, CPA and Master's Degree in Tax is a plus.

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:

  • Annual Performance Appraisal
  • Completion of all assigned Compliance training

Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • PC usage up to 100% of the time.
  • Basic office equipment such as telephone, copier, and fax machines, etc.
  • Overtime and weekend hours may be required.
  • Position requires ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines and high accuracy standards.
