Job Description:

The Global Tax Department of AB is in search of a State & Local Tax Manager to join their U.S. Finance organization. The candidate will report to the SVP/Global Tax Director and will be involved in various aspects of the company's tax planning and compliance activities including forecasting of the effective tax rate and supporting the annual tax return process. The position will partner with other members of the finance team including, General Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury and Legal. In addition, key constituents will include, external tax and legal counsel. The candidate will play an integral role in assisting the team achieve strategic objectives, drive process improvements, support international tax teams with the goal of ensuring the firm's global tax requirements are complied with accurately and timely.

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Act as the key point of contact and support for the Firm's Multi-State matters
  • Review State and Local income tax return filings
  • Prepare and/or file non-income taxes (Sales & use tax, net worth tax, commercial rent tax, etc.)
  • Partner with Legal Team in maintaining business licenses, preparing and filing annual reports, and annual fees
  • Oversee the calculation of state apportionment/allocation data
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all non-income tax filings
  • Liaise with tax authorities and provide tax audit support for the Firm
  • Manage external tax authorities' requests, audits, and nexus inquiries
  • Provide internal Multi-State tax advisory services and support on business operations matters
  • Provide technical support on M&A activities
  • Support the Company's governance processes which include providing Board Level Reporting
  • Closely monitor and timely implement changes to State & Local tax operations
  • Participate in or lead special projects

Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient in Multi-State Compliance & Tax Reporting
  • Prior experience working on Multi-state matters is desired
  • Outstanding organization skills, ability to effectively prioritize, and direct others
  • Knowledge of tax accounting and federal tax return compliance is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative by nature
  • Exceptional at developing internal client relationships
  • Proficient MS Office, XBRL

Education and Experience

  • 4 to 6 years' progressive experience in a Corporate Tax Department
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
  • Big Four experience desired
  • CPA required
  • MS in Taxation a +
