Position Description

The Tax and Regulatory Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting the organization's Tax and Regulatory functions.

  • Research, study, monitor, and interpret federal, state, and local tax regulations to be in compliance with regulatory changes and recommend best practices
  • Prepare, review, and/or manage federal, state, and local tax and regulatory filings
  • Assess and research difficult tax issues to identify solutions
  • Determine tax savings and recommend strategies to improve financial well being
  • Responds to notices/general inquiries and assists with audit inquiries
  • Support the reporting needs of the organization
  • Lead and manage internal initiatives of the Finance department
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for termination

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 7+ years of directly related work experience, including federal, state, and local tax experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
  • Electric utility industry experience preferred
  • Experience with property tax, escheatment, indirect tax, and Form 990 preferred
  • Knowledge in GAAP, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Accounting, and financial statements
  • Executive level communication experience, providing updates to Management
  • Strong user of Excel and accounting/tax systems
  • Highly self-motivated, driven for results, and customer service focused
  • Team player prepared to help and lead others to achieve department goals, and develop and mentor staff
