Job Description

Vaco Technology is assisting one of our clients on the north side of Indianapolis in their search for a Technical Writer for a 2+ month contract. This position will be responsible for providing the overall coordination, prioritization, and development of Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation for IT Operations. This individual will utilize subject matter expertise to develop or revise written procedures for the existing process, improvement initiatives, operational process changes and new product/system implementations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage documentation related projects from initiation through closure.
  • Observe and interrogate operational processes and production to gain knowledge and expertise needed to support the maintenance and development of departmental documentation.
  • Collaborate with business units to establish technical specifications and determine subject material to be developed into SOPs for both application development and infrastructure
  • Translate complex technical content into easily readable text, tables, charts, diagrams and graphics, as appropriate.
  • Conduct research as needed.
  • Organize material and complete SOPs according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Support the collection, review and version tracking of documents.
  • Analyze changes to determine the need for revisions in previously published materials and development of new material.
  • Incorporate strategic communications as appropriate.
  • Execute copy, editing and quality assurance reviews for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Identify and communicate process changes that may impact training programs or initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Minimum of two (2) years technical writing and editing experience in an IT operations environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proper use of grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to communicate in a way that is simplistic but with sufficient detail to be understood by the appropriate audience
  • High level of competence with MS Office
  • Displays flexibility and willingness to accept constantly changing project/program updates; response and adjusts to changing situations or priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills effectively collaborate with others and build strong relationships within team and business partners
  • Strong problem-solving and business capabilities
