Job Description

Technical Writer

Day to Day:

  • 10% - Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
  • 70% - Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content working closely with various departments to understand project requirements. Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation. Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience and sets our users and partners up for success.
  • 10% - Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications. Work with PXiSE team to identify and use appropriate documentation standards.
  • 10% - Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvements.

Must Have:

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in English or related field.
  • 2-4 years of technical writing experience desired. Must provide 2 or more portfolio examples of technical writing.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Develop content for maximum usability with a consistent and cohesive voice.
  • Previous experience working with software and/or engineering companies/products desired.
  • Ability to understand complex engineering specifications and interact with multiple teams (engineering, testing, service, marketing, legal, compliance) to ensure appropriate content for distinct regional audiences and customers.
  • Collaborative and communicative professional who self-manages deliverables and proactively seeks support and information from the PXiSE team. Provides regular status updates.
  • Excellent project management skills. Breaks down complex project into clear milestones. Reliably executes to meet project timelines. Identifies and overcomes hurdles to ensure successful project completion.


  • Experience with energy products such as battery systems, fuel cells, power conversion systems, or solar generation systems desired.

We are seeking a Technical Writer to lead the development of user manuals, training documents, and technical sales materials. The ideal candidate is an experienced technical writer with experience in highly technical fields such as software development, computer science, or electrical engineering. This role supports the Sales and Marketing department and works collaboratively with software developers, field engineers, project managers, and external partners.
