The Web Systems Administrator position is responsible for administration of our web server environment. The current environment includes Windows, Apache, IIS, Tomcat, PHP, Java, Drupal, WordPress, and MySql. This position may assist with support of any technologies supported by the team.


  • Plan and apply updates, upgrades, and patches to web software
  • Apply web site security measures
  • Implement and configure web software to follow best practice
  • Implement a highly available, redundant web environment
  • Develop policies and procedures for updating and maintaining web software
  • Develop policies and procedures for backup and recovery
  • Test backup or recovery plans regularly and resolve any problems.
  • Maintain system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting of hardware, software, and OS
  • Develop web site performance metrics
  • Document installation or configuration procedures to allow maintenance and repetition
  • Develop plan to keep WordPress and Drupal components current
  • Develop regression testing plan and procedure


  • Familiarity / understanding of DMZ, load balancing, firewalls, DNS and related protocols
  • Understanding of SSL and TLS
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, Apache, PHP, IIS and Tomcat environments
  • Experience configuring and supporting high availability architecture for web
  • Experience with MySQL database administration
  • Experience with software development processes and methodology
