This position will require close collaboration with product management, helping to define requirements for new and existing products. This role will also interact closely with developers and testers. The individual will be responsible for creating deliverables such as user journey maps, wireframes, personas, site navigation and architecture, and user interface specifications, based on an understanding of user needs and tasks gained through research, user feedback and usability testing and analysis.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are a must as the User Experience Designer will be responsible for presenting findings and deliverables to a variety of stakeholders, from business owners to team members.
  • Work collaboratively with product managers, software engineers, and information developers to create and execute user interface designs, flows, specifications, usability studies and other user research
  • Provide innovative design vision with a strong focus on usability and accessibility
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, including contextual inquiry, design thinking activities, heuristic and competitive reviews, personas, and usability testing and analysis
  • Interpret user needs and goals into application design and drive changes for usability improvements based on user feedback
  • Create, maintain, and update UX wireframes based on use cases and business requirements
  • Document UI specifications for visual designs and collaborate with development staff to ensure implementation of visual and interaction designs

Qualifications

  • Mastery of the user-centered design process, the principles of web design, and scalable dynamic UIs
  • Experience with user research and analysis
  • Portfolio showcasing complex and difficult UI challenges with the ability to verbally communicate the sound reasoning for their design decisions
  • Solid examples of process flows, wireframes, site maps, or other UX/IA deliverables
  • Self-starter, user-focused, detail-oriented, comfortable working on cross-functional teams, and able to handle a highly complex project in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to initiate and drive complex projects to completion
  • 3 plus years of industry experience working on complex Web and application designs
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in human-computer interaction, interactive design, graphic design, art or related field
  • Knowledge and understanding of usability and accessibility issues, and current Web and application trends and best practices
