About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, private equity–backed distribution and services company to identify an IT Manager who will play a pivotal role in scaling the organization’s technology environment. With $75–100M in revenue, 50 employees, and a strong growth trajectory through acquisitions, the business is seeking a leader who can both set strategy and dive into hands-on IT operations.

This is a unique opportunity to be the company’s first formal IT leader, shaping its technology roadmap, optimizing vendor partnerships, and driving enterprise system implementations. The role reports directly to the President (with interim collaboration alongside the CFO) and offers long-term equity incentives.

Current Technology Environment

  • Core systems: QuickBooks (finance), Microsoft Access DB (work orders), H2O Analytics (meter installations)

  • Pending/Planned: ERP system (NetSuite, Dynamics, or Sage), HubSpot (CRM)

  • Infrastructure: On-premise server, Microsoft 365/Cloud tools

  • Security & Devices: Brivo door access control, office camera systems, vehicle trackers, dash cams, ~30 company handheld devices (phone allowance)

  • Support Model: Managed Service Provider (MSP) for day-to-day IT support; this role will manage vendor performance and relationships

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily IT operations, including infrastructure, end-user support, and system maintenance

  • Manage MSP relationships, performance, and escalations

  • Ensure proactive IT support, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance

  • Enterprise Systems & Applications

  • Lead the selection, implementation, and adoption of ERP, CRM, WMS, and HRIS systems

  • Ensure smooth change management and end-user training for new systems

  • Oversee HubSpot CRM rollout and adoption within the sales team

  • Governance & Cybersecurity

  • Establish IT governance frameworks, processes, and documentation standards

  • Develop and execute disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) plans

  • Partner with MSP and external vendors to oversee cybersecurity initiatives, including penetration testing and compliance best practices

  • Strategic Impact

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align IT investments with company growth strategy

  • Support M&A activity by integrating new systems and infrastructure

  • Build the foundation for a scalable IT organization, with potential to add staff over time

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

    • 8 years of IT operations and systems management experience, including leadership responsibilities

    • Proven experience overseeing MSPs and third-party IT vendors

    • Strong knowledge of ERP/CRM/WMS systems; successful implementation experience required

    • Familiarity with distribution/manufacturing technologies strongly preferred

    • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and risk management practices

    • Entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset; thrives in lean, high-growth, PE-backed environments

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to influence at executive levels while being “in the weeds” when needed

    • Must be able to work full-time on-site in Katy, TX

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Base Salary: $135,000–150,000 (flexible based on experience)

    • Annual Bonus: ~10% of base salary

    • Equity Participation: Long-term performance-based incentives

    • Benefits: Comprehensive package including health, retirement, and additional perks

    Why This Role?

    • Direct exposure to executive leadership and private equity stakeholders

    • High-impact opportunity to build and formalize the IT function from the ground up

    • Hands-on leadership role in ERP/CRM/WMS selection and implementation

    • Long-term upside through equity participation and company growth

    • Culture that values collaboration, entrepreneurial drive, and a “family-like” environment
