Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions of the real estate business
- Manage and coordinate the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements
- Develop and maintain the annual budget and forecasting process for the real estate business
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to management on trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and other advisors
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, including performance management, training, and development
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and analysis as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred
- 7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in real estate accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices, as well as real estate accounting standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues and develop solutions
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software systems such as Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, or Oracle
