Interim Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting POST NUMBER: 472113
Our client, an innovative biotechnology company, is seeking an Interim Senior Accounting Manager to support its corporate accounting function during a period of transition.
The position can be fully remote or hybrid in San Francisco, CA, depending on the candidate's preference. This engagement has an expected duration of 3-6 months.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of financial results.
- Lead consolidation of multiple entities, ensuring accuracy in intercompany eliminations, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Manage a team responsible for general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and internal reporting packages.
- Maintain ownership of the financial close calendar, partnering with cross?functional teams to enhance efficiency and shorten cycle times.
- Govern the chart of accounts, supporting new business initiatives with proper general ledger structure and accounting treatment.
- Ensure accurate handling of foreign currency transactions within the general ledger.
- Support improvements to accounting systems and workflows, helping drive automation and scalable processes.
- Partner with internal teams, including Finance, Operations, and IT, on system integrations and process enhancements.
- Assist with annual audit, tax compliance, and internal control activities.
- Support external reporting processes by providing accurate consolidated financial data and insights.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives across accounting and adjacent business units.
- Mentor and develop team members to support professional growth and build strong bench strength.
Requirements:
- Experience leading corporate accounting teams within medium or large organizations
- Strong understanding of financial close processes, consolidations, and internal controls
- Experience with ERP or enterprise accounting systems (cloud?based platforms preferred)
- Background in a public company or high?growth environments preferred
- Strong technical accounting foundation and ability to collaborate across departments
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of process improvement
