Fund Accounting Manager

Our client, a real estate investment firm, is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to support accounting, reporting, and investor deliverables across multiple investment vehicles. 

Location:
Oakland, CA. This position is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite.

Job Description: 
This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations, and investor relations and is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a growing, collaborative environment. The Accounting Manager will partner with internal leadership and external service providers to ensure accurate financial reporting and disciplined fund?level controls. 

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee fund level accounting activities, including capital activity, fees, allocations, and distributions.
  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and investment fund reporting standards.
  • Manage relationships with third party fund administrators, reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting packages.
  • Prepare and review investor reporting, including capital account statements and financial packages.
  • Coordinate responses to investor inquiries alongside internal investor relations teams.
  • Support fundraising activities by providing historical fund data and assisting with due diligence requests.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for annual audits, coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Review tax allocations, ensure consistency with governing documents, and support preparation of annual tax filings.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and ensure compliance with partnership agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with asset management and property level accounting teams to ensure consistent reporting across investments.
  • Monitor fund liquidity, cash management, and financial compliance at the fund level.

Requirements:
  • 5 years of real estate or investment accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, partnerships, and investment structures
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial systems (real estate or investment accounting platforms a plus)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
