Sr. Accountant/Accounting Manager POST NUMBER: 474116
Location: Great Neck, NY (Hybrid)
Salary: $130,000-160,000
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven accounting professional to support financial reporting and corporate accounting functions within a publicly traded company. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in public accounting and experience working in a public company environment.
You’ll play a key role in the close process, SEC reporting, and working closely with auditors, with exposure to senior leadership and high-impact projects.
Key responsibilities
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparing journal entries and workpapers
- Prepare consolidated financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Equity, OCI)
- Assist in the preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, with supporting disclosures and footnotes
- Manage consolidations across multiple entities and properties
- Prepare cash flow statements and financial reporting schedules
- Develop income statement and cash flow projections for management and the Board
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit requests and deliverables
- Prepare technical accounting memos and analyze new accounting pronouncements
- Assist with purchase price allocations for acquisitions
- Support tax-related filings, including REIT-related schedules
- Maintain and update internal controls and support SOX compliance efforts
- Prepare debt covenant calculations and lender reporting packages
- Assist with investor reporting and presentations
- Partner with cross-functional teams on ad hoc projects
What we’re looking for
- CPA preferred
- Experience in public accounting required (Big 4 or similar strongly preferred)
- Experience in corporate accounting or SEC reporting for a public company
- Strong knowledge of financial close, consolidations, and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q)
- Experience working under tight deadlines and fast-paced close cycles
- Understanding of accounting for complex transactions (leases, acquisitions, etc.)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- ~3 years in public accounting, plus industry experience at a public company
- Real estate or REIT experience is a plus
