Accounting Manager
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations and lead a high-performing accounting team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in a dynamic business environment.
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in month-end close, technical accounting support, internal controls, and cross-functional collaboration, while helping drive consistency and best practices across the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing ongoing coaching and guidance
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and close activities
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Review financial statements, supporting schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements
- Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and other business teams to support accurate financial data
- Support external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and ad hoc reporting as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including people management or team leadership
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience overseeing close processes and complex account reconciliations
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate accounting teams
- Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a large, fast paced organization
- Background in process improvement, systems implementations, or automation initiatives
- Public accounting experience a plus
