Role: Controller 
Salary: $225,000 - $250,000/annually Bonus & Benefits

Location: Manhattan, NY (*3 days a week onsite*)

Job Description:

Financial Operations & Reporting Excellence

  • Drive the Monthly Close: Lead the end-to-end month-end close process, delivering insightful, accurate financial reporting and KPIs that inform executive decision-making.

  • Operational Optimization: Oversee and scale critical accounting policies, procurement, and expense procedures to ensure robust internal controls.

  • Treasury & Audit Management: Direct tax and treasury operations while serving as the primary lead for the annual financial audit.

  • Working Capital Management: Optimize collections, payables, and reconciliations to maintain a healthy cash flow.

Technical Accounting & Loan Portfolio Governance

  • Lending Subject Matter Expert: Own the accounting for the company’s loan portfolio, specifically regarding revenue recognition, interest accruals, and deferred fee amortization under US GAAP.

  • Credit Loss & ASC 326 (CECL): Maintain the allowance for credit losses, including reserve methodology, charge-off accounting, and impairment assessments in partnership with the Credit team.

  • Complex Financial Instruments: Evaluate and document technical conclusions for complex instruments including SAFEs, warrants, and hybrid instruments (ASC 480, 815, 718).

  • Restructuring & Modifications: Analyze loan modifications and debt restructurings (ASC 310-20/470-50), authoring technical memos to support GAAP conclusions.

Strategic Partnership

  • CFO Advisory: Partner closely with the CFO to develop operating budgets, long-range forecasts, and deep-dive Budget vs. Actual (BvA) analysis.

  • Stakeholder Reporting: Collaborate with Operations to produce high-integrity reporting for lenders, investors, and syndicated loan participants.
