Compensation: Full-time employee paid hourly, overtime: $30.00 - $38.00 / hour (W2) / ($62,000 - $75,000 equivalent overtime)
Travel Details:
- The FST will cover travel to manufacturing sites across the Southeast US Region.
- A company credit card will be provided to cover all associated travel costs – rental car, lodging, etc.
- A per diem will be paid for food reimbursement approximately $68/day, subject to increase based on travel destination.
- All associated travel hours will be compensated for.
- Travel schedule is typical to follow outbound travel on Monday and return travel on Friday. On rare occasions, travel could be for up to 2-weeks depending on site needs.
- Training: The Field Service Tech will be required to attend initial on-the-job training in Sarasota, FL during the first 4-weeks of on-boarding. Additional trainings throughout the year may be delivered virtually, or onsite, as needed. All training and associated travel costs will be compensated for.
About the Opportunity:
Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Field Service Technician (FST) to join a rapidly growing manufacturing who is expanding their plant operations across the United States. This position will require 80-90% travel across the Southeast Region of the United States. The FST will provide onsite maintenance and repair of manufacturing and packaging machinery and equipment, functioning as a bridge between the customer and the company to provide excellent customer service to ensure efficient manufacturing plant operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting on complex flexible machinery, utilizing advanced technical expertise and independent problem-solving abilities.
- Verify that all inspections, testing procedures, quality standards, and operational requirements are consistently achieved.
- Lead or supervise customer personnel during equipment installations, system integrations, and service activities, including repairs and diagnostics.
- Modify and tailor machine programs on-site as needed to align with specific customer requirements.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as needed, providing 24/7 remote technical support to customers.
- Support internal manufacturing operations by assisting on the factory floor when not traveling for field service assignments.
- Deliver hands-on training to customers on proper equipment operation, maintenance, and servicing procedures.
- Assist customers in identifying and sourcing aftermarket parts while in the field.
Required Technical Skills:
The ideal candidate will:
- Bring 1–3 years of experience supporting manufacturing environments, including hands-on maintenance and repair of production or packaging equipment, along with associated systems/software.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and core applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exhibit strong communication abilities paired with a customer-focused approach.
- Be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Skills / Nice to Have:
- Experience working for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
- Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and PC-based control systems.
- Background supporting packaging equipment, particularly machinery used in flexible packaging applications.
- A college degree and/or relevant technical certifications are a plus.
